Random Acts of Kindness Day
So, according to a clerk in a clothing store in the mall, today was Random Acts of Kindness Day! I never knew there was a designated “day” for that before. Hmm . . . having a designated “day” for random acts of kindness is wonderfully good in some ways but sad in others, isn’t it? Celebrating random acts of kindness is wonderful, but it’s sad that we need a designated … Continue reading

Flying Light
Here’s another Brandon Sun cryptoquote for you. Beautiful, sweet, simple, elegant, fun, and cute all at the same time: “The reason angels can fly is because they take themselves lightly.”–G.K. Chesterton Isn’t that wonderfully said? It’s just lovely. Living life lightly means a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but it starts with refusing to be burdened by the cares of the present or the problems … Continue reading
Lessons Learned While Living Life on a Rollercoaster
Since the New Year turned the corner in 2011 (yes, 2011, not 2012), I’ve been living my life in a rather jerky rollercoaster car. There have been so many changes happening on so many fronts that, literally about every four to six weeks, something big happened that turned my entire world upside-down. Tiring? Yes. Unsurvivable? No. And, at the end of the day, those experiences taught me quite a few … Continue reading

Luck, Rain, and People
So, today was Friday the thirteenth and it rained all day. Nothing heavy. Just a light, gentle, refreshing rain. I could’ve driven to work, but I had no desire to do that. An umbrella is all I need! As long as it isn’t oppressively windy (thus making an umbrella more of a hindrance than a help), I enjoy walking in the rain! It just feels and smells so beautifully clean … Continue reading

Beautiful Mornings
I’m not a morning person. Never have been. But, some mornings, I wake up feeling so beautifully peaceful and refreshed that I want to linger in that moment forever. (I hope you know the feeling too.) This morning was one of those mornings. These kinds of mornings never happen when an unsympathetic alarm clock is involved. No matter how many hours of sleep lead up to that unrelenting buzzing, alarm … Continue reading

“Walk On the Moon”
This is one of my favourite songs in the world. It’s about conquering your fears, embracing opportunity, and going after whatever it is that your heart most desires. What I especially love about this song is that it doesn’t ask us to deny that we’re afraid; instead, it encourages us to drive through our fear because the end result is often amazing.

Warmth in the Cold
Have any of you ever locked yourselves outside in the cold? Come on, ‘fess up . . . I know I’m not alone here! I accidentally locked myself out of my workplace the other day and, while it certainly could’ve been much colder, it was definitely cold. The whole thing was simple, really (as these kinds of errors often are). When I close up the museum for the day (the … Continue reading
